SOUNDS OF KINGMAN PRESENTS

Jim Hinkley

“A Great American Road Trip” Sponsored by Steve Wagner and the Rt. 66 Yacht Club

March 5th, 2022
At the Mohave Museum at 1:00pm – 3:00pm

“The American auto industry, the Good Roads Association, and the U.S. Highway system all began with adventures on bicycles. This fun filled, fast paced presentation chronicles the evolution of the great American road from Thomas Stevens epic bicycle odyssey in 1878 to tour companies that now offer a Route 66 adventure by bicycle. In between are stories about Alexander Wintons ill-fated attempted to drive from coast to coast in 1901, Dr. Jackson, the first person to drive coast to coast, Emily Post’s “By Motor to The Golden Gate” adventure in 1915, the development of Airstream trailers, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez Road trips, and the transition of Route 66 from highway to icon.”
